Trails at Kippure Estate
One of the greatest things about staying at Kippure Estate is that you have access to a wealth of beautiful trails starting right from the door, leading you around hidden corners of the nature-rich grounds and giving you a taste of what lies beyond in the Wicklow wonderland.
Visitors to Kippure are welcome to ramble through the 240 acres of woodlands, park and farmland on the estate, at their leisure. Wildlife enthusiasts will particularly delight in encountering the natural population of deer, badgers and birdlife as well as rare plants, grasses and traditional woodlands. The clearly waymarked trails are suitable for all fitness levels and offer beautiful views over the Wicklow Mountains.
Liffey Walk
This tranquil trail follows the river Liffey, leading to a scenic viewpoint overlooking a river bend and the remnants of the Coronation Plantation, which was planted in the 1830s.
The Old Avenue
A splendid stroll, which follows the original 19th Century carriageway to the old Kippure House. This trail passes through a preserved woodland area where natural regeneration takes place within a unique floral ecosystem.
Mountain View Walk
This popular walk leads through natural peatland and heather up to a trail flanked by picturesque old beech trees. Your efforts will be rewarded with magnificent views over Mullaghcleevaun Mountain, which is Irish for 'Top of the Cradle'.
Rock Wood
Mature trees, many of which have seen centuries of change, line the naturally undulating trails along small brooks and past large boulders strewn by the last Ice Age. The canopy of leaves of this mixed woodlands provide a dappled light effect, which is simply magical to behold.

Kippure Estate is the start and finish point for a number of special interest walks. All are led by a qualified and experienced nature guide and are perfect for adding a different twist to some already spectacular walks.
Our special interest walks are both informative and entertaining and are particularly well-suited to members of walking clubs, historical, university and special interest groups, school groups as well as groups of family or friends.
