KIPPURE FIELD STUDIES

Our Studies

All our field studies are carried out on site and have been carefully designed to facilitate the relevant Department of Education Curricula. A team of highly experienced instructors with a range of Environmental qualifications deliver our studies.

We provide all the necessary worksheets, field equipment, along with a selection of raingear, wellington boots & waders.

Leaving Certificate Geography - River & Glaciation Study

We are delighted to announce that Kippure Estate is running the Geographical Investigation Field Studies for the Leaving Certificate Geography Curriculum for a 4th consecutive year. The year 2005-06 was extremely successful for us with 60 schools from Counties Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Carlow, Wicklow, Kilkenny, Louth, Offaly, Laois & Wexford attending our studies. We have received some excellent feedback from these school and were delighted to hear that many students went on to receive 100% in their reports entitled “Geomorphic processes of erosion in a fluvial/glacial environment”.

This study will be amended each year to suit the different Geographical Investigation Field Studies topics, for example Geomorphic Processes of Erosion, or Deposition & Transportation.

Study involves a range of activities such as:

  • Measuring river velocity,
  • Measuring discharge,
  • Measuring valley or river profile,
  • Bed Load Analysis
  • Field Sketches
  • Detailed Map Worktop

Leaving Certificate Ecology - Scientific Study of an Ecosystem

Facilitating the Ecology element of the biology syllabus this study includes some of the following activities:

  • Using different surveying techniques carry out a vegetation, invertebrate & vertebrate survey
  • Investigation of the different factors affecting the ecosystem 
  • Mapping the study area
  • Identify a Food Web top


Junior Certificate Science- Scientific Study of an Ecosystem

To facilitate the Course Work B “Additional Student Investigations” part of the curriculum this study this incorporate some of the following activities:

  • Using different surveying techniques carry out a vegetation, invertebrate & vertebrate survey
  • Investigation of the different factors affecting the ecosystem 
  • Mapping the study area
  • Identify a Food Web top


Junior Certificate Geography - River & Glaciation Study

With fieldwork now a major element of the school curricula, this is an excellent opportunity to give junior students experience in sampling, surveying, measuring, sketching, date collection & analysis and report writing.top


Transition Year Environmental Field Studies- Geography & Ecology Study

This study is a great fun way to provide the experience & all the skills that fieldwork involves.
